Enhancements to the ligating clips on SmartClip™ SL3 Self-Ligating Brackets offer improved rotational control and reduced forces required for archwire engagement and disengagement. The improvements are designed to enhance treatment efficiency and increase patient comfort during archwire changes.

As part of an ongoing continuing improvement process for 3M products, 3M engineers have responded to a call for improved engagement and disengagement forces for the ligating clips on SmartClip™ SL3 Self-Ligating Appliances. The improved clips change the forces needed to engage and disengage archwires, and in particular, rectangular archwires. The result is an improved experience for both the doctor and patient. In the process, the shape of the enhanced clip has also improved the rotation control characteristics of the brackets.
