Overview

This advanced rescue training course equips participants to perform entry-type rescue operations in wind turbines using industry-standard equipment and techniques, surpassing GWO BST standards for Working at Height. Participants will be able to rescue injured persons from various turbine sections, with modules available independently or as a complete course.

Course Modules

The course comprises of four modules:

Module 1: Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (HSIBR)
Module 2: Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (NTBR)
Module 3: Single Rescuer: Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (SR:HSIBR)
Module 4: Single Rescuer: Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (SR:NTBR)

The Refresher course comprises of two modules:

Module 1: Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Refresher (ART-HR)
Module 2: Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue Refresher (ART-NR)

- Learn and implement your organization's emergency response and evacuation plans.
- Identify hazards and apply safety measures during height rescues.
- Safely use cervical collars and head support in rescue operations.
- Properly package injured persons for transport.
- Choose and operate rescue systems for moving injured persons up or down.
- Perform rescues from the hub, blade, and spinner areas of a wind turbine.
- Perform evacuations of injured persons to outside areas.
NTBR and ART-NR:
- Learn and implement your organization's emergency response and evacuation plans.
- Identify hazards and apply safety measures during height rescues.
- Safely use cervical collars and head support in rescue operations.
- Properly package injured persons for transport.
- Choose and operate rescue systems for moving injured persons up or down.
- Evacuate injured persons from the nacelle to the tower base, both inside and outside.
- Perform rescues from enclosed spaces.
- Perform rescues from crawl spaces.
- Perform rescues up, inside, and outside the tower.
SR:HSIBR:
- Learn and apply single rescuer strategies for emergencies
- Identify risks and apply safety measures during height rescues
- Evacuate injured persons from the nacelle to the base of the tower
- Perform rescues from the hub, blade, and spinner areas of a wind turbine
SR:NTBR:
- Learn and apply single rescuer strategies for emergencies
- Identify risks and apply safety measures during height rescues
- Evacuate injured persons from the nacelle to the base of the tower
- Perform rescues from enclosed spaces
- Perform rescues from crawl spaces
- Perform rescues from up, inside the tower

Who Should Enroll

This course is suitable for individuals working in the wind industry or related fields, with duties in wind turbine environments, and those selected by their employer to perform or lead advanced rescue operations where GWO Advanced Rescue Training can help manage risks.

The refresher course is designed for seasoned professionals in the wind industry who need to renew their GWO Advanced Rescue certificate, ensuring they refresh and maintain their competence in these areas.

Certification

Certificate will be issued by the Global Wind Organization (GWO). It will be valid for 2 years from date of issue, after which a refresher training will be required.

Participants Prerequisites

Participants must be physically fit and capable of participating in moderately strenuous practical activities.
Participants must adhere to the Drug and Alcohol Policy.
Participants are required to wear long pants and safety boots for the training

Course Inclusions (for trainings held at 3M):

Basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety helmets, safety glasses, coveralls, and gloves will be provided during practical training
Meals are provided daily, including lunch and two coffee breaks

Class Size:

Theory Sessions: 1 instructor for every 12 students
Practical Sessions: 2 instructors for every 12 students
