GWO Slinger Signaller

Overview

This course aims to help participants understand and manage the risks and hazards of slinger signalling in the wind industry. Participants will learn how to respond to dangerous situations, correctly use protective and emergency equipment, and adhere to safety procedures. This slinger signaller training ensures that participants can perform their tasks safely and efficiently while prioritizing their own safety and the safety of others.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

• Independently attach and detach loads from a crane
• Safely guide crane movements, even in tricky situations or when visibility is limited.
• Understand and fulfill their role during a lift
• Inspect lifting equipment and loads before and after use
• Handle lifting equipment properly
• Ensure safe lifting and setting down of loads
• Sling different types of loads based on their characteristics and ask for help if needed
• Perform routine lifts according to the lift plan on their own
• Follow employer's lifting instructions and seek help when necessary
• Make sure equipment is used correctly, maintained, and report any issues

Who Should Enroll

This course is suitable for individuals who work in the wind industry and are involved in slinging techniques and signalling during straightforward lifting operations, which are performed according to a lifting plan that addresses known hazards.

Certification

Certificate will be issued by the Global Wind Organization (GWO). It will be valid for 2 years from date of issue, after which a refresher training will be required.

Participants Prerequisites

• Participants must be physically fit and capable of participating in moderately strenuous practical activities.
• Participants must adhere to the Drug and Alcohol Policy.
• Participants are required to wear long pants and safety boots for the training

• Copy of ID. Card /or Passport
• Personal WINDA ID

Course Inclusions (for trainings held at 3M):

• Basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety helmets, safety glasses, coveralls, and gloves will be provided during practical training
• Meals are provided daily, including lunch and two coffee breaks

Class Size:

• Theory Sessions: 1 instructor for every 12 students
• Practical Sessions: 3 instructors for every 12 students
